In the Autumn of 2015, my family decided to head to the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, our main destination was the ‘The Tigers Nest’ high up in the mountain ranges, a little distance from Paro.  As we embarked on our trek from the foothill of the mountains, ponies were readied for those pilgrims, who were unable to trek. We had a mountain guide and decided on an arduous climb, passing through steep pathways, streams, and winding steps to the edge of a mountain cliff 900 metres away from the ground. Legend has it that that the Tibetan Bodhisattva Padmasambhava, founder of the Mahayana School of Buddhism, rode on a Dragon that was in fact the princess Yeshe Trogyal transformed into a Tigress. After a fierce battle he cleansed the place from evil spirits that had brought disease and fear to the villages on the mountain. Padmasambhava later sat in meditation in a cave during the eighth century and it was in around the sixteenth century that a monastery was built around the cave where he died.

In Tibetan mythology and medicine, the Fire Dragon is a positive energy unlike in the Western story tradition. It symbolizes the raising of kundalini represented by a snake moving as the Divine Life force through the spine, as a healing vehicle of the White Buddha. As the traditional Tibetan healing technique was facing  a slow death in the country of its origin, this ancient medical technique is being revived by His Holiness the Dalai lama through a Department of Tibetan Medicine in Dharamshala in Northern India, where the Tibetans live in exile. The operations have now branched out to Vienna in Austria under the watchful eye of a young Doctor, Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche.

The new global pandemic has revived interest in traditional medicine systems of the Orient. The Oriental treatment is primarily aimed on a “Mind Body, Soul” approach towards any panacea, while the Western Allopathy system looks at it as a mere physical remedy. One should not doubt its efficacy, for it has brought with it short term solutions to the world’s teeming sick over the decades. Earlier these virus prone diseases were localized to certain geographies, such as the Spanish flu and Russian flu. The Russian flu of 1890  is said to have emanated from St. Petersburg, and is said to have claimed the life of Russian occultist and Founder of the Theosophical Society – Madam Helena Blavatsky in 1891, and soon after, her friend the celebrated Irish Poet W.B. Yeats fell a victim.

There are so many theories doing the rounds as to the causes of COVID19. The possibility of linking sunspots with pandemics was first suggested in 1977 by two scientists – Hope-Simpson who pointed out that many pandemics of influenza in history appeared close to times of sunspot maximization. Dave Gunning while delivering a lecture on Astrological outlook for 2020, which was delivered at the Theosophical Society of America, Wheaton Illinois, on 9th January 2020, predicted “major Earth changes will come to the forefront.”

In the well-known Al Azhar University of Egypt, a National Virus C Project is drawing the attention of scientists where patients suffering from an earlier version of Covid were experimented on with modern allopathic drugs and another batch of patients were prescribed “Bio Geometric” solutions. While the former responded with 30% success rate the later batch of patients registered 90% success. Bio Geometry originates in the architecture of the Pyramids of Egypt. For students of Theosophy ‘Sacred Geometry’ is not an unfamiliar subject. In fact it was during a lecture on the subject, held at ‘The Lamasery’, the residence of HPB in New York, that Bro Henry Steel Olcott, scribbled a note and handed it over to Madam Blavatsky, mooting the formation of the Theosophical Society. That was in September 1875, which actually fructified on 17th November 1975. Dr. Ibrahim Karim, an Egyptian Scientist and Architect did extensive research on Bio Geometric solutions, and implemented it in the Swiss town of Hemberg where its population was suffering from allergic conditions and electro sensitive ailments. Dr. Karim was able to alleviate the problem through Bio Geometric solutions. The town of Appenzell is now working on a Bio Geometry project. Research on Bio Geometry came into public focus with the effort of Dr. Ibrahim Karim, around 1976 on a strong scientific foundation. The solutions use colours, motion and sounds to bring harmony into subtle energy.

Professor Hilary Graham at the University of York, U.K. writing in the 2019 report of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, warns of a threat in every seven year cycle. He warns that six million children will be affected by the Co2 emissions of fossil fuel. This is also seen as an accompanying threat to human immunity.

The Government of India, has sensed the value of traditional schools of medicine and has recognized, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, as proven systems of medication. The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, made an earnest appeal on public television in May 2020, to increase the use of traditional time tested medicine. As a consequence, yoga guru Ramdev Baba’s Patanjali ayurvedic products have stormed the store shelves, threatening Unilever in its undisputed sales of FMCG products.

Six months into the pandemic, the world still finds itself distant from a viable cure as the disease is spreading like wild fire across nations. Had the Chinese localized the virus within Wuhan Province, the entire World would have gone to its help. That was how Ebola was contained to West Africa (Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia) and the Sars to South East Asia. The cases of this virus was contained to 300 cases in America.

Now the debate over efficacy of allopathic medicine and its accompanying vaccine is pouring into front line political debate and more pronounced in the United States of America. The showdown between President Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci is a glaring case in point. Dr. Fauci was credited with taming the HIV Virus. The debate is spilling well into the public. Foremost on the digital media is Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, Senate candidate from Massachusetts. He is a proponent of the Anti-Vaccine Campaign and a strong supporter of natural medicine. This is a voice that is increasingly getting heard in America. Dr. Shiva has obtained four degrees in Harvard and one of his papers is a dissertation on the efficacy of Siddha medicine of Southern India. Under his political war cry of “Truth, Freedom and Health” he is calling for a national debate on American health care. He is of the opinion that the Big Pharma have drained the immunity system of all mankind thereby attracting sickness. Others who have joined the Anti-Vaccine Movement are Dr. Rashid Ali Buttar (conspiracy theorist and anti-vaccine proponent of Pakistani lineage), Dr. Judy Mikovits (chronic fatigue researcher and author of Plague of Corruption restoring faith in the promise of science. Her video Plandemic has been since removed from FaceBook. These activists are all working on the same side but not necessarily together. Dr. Brian Clement and Dr. Anna Maria Clement, of the organic ‘Hippocrates Lifestyle’ in Palm Beach, Florida, are strong supporters of Dr. Shiva’s campaign.

While on the opposite side, we have advocates of insulin, as in the case of treatment of diabetes, like the reputed Dr. Andreas Radbruch, Scientific Director, DRFZ, Berlin. The common man is entitled to know the pros and cons of both schools of thought and should strongly participate with an open mind in this discourse.

Dr. Deepak Chopra, integrative medicine pioneer, in his new book Metahuman talks of how we are limiting the frontiers of science and medical research if we ignore the para normal systems of cure. He argues that he was yet trying to scientifically figure out the miracle cures of shamans and yogis both with the help of the spiritual and herbal traditional medicines. He feels the doors of expanding research must open up to these new possibilities. Dr. Robert Svoboda, a student of Ayurveda for the last five decades and who has personally experienced miracle cures by the tribal shamans in Ivory Coast and Kenya opines that we should retain the gains of modern medicine but pitch for long term traditional solutions to build our immune system.

Alice Bailey wrote in her book Esoteric Healing:

“The Development of Goodwill, which is the will of good intention and motive, will cure the healing of disease of the respiratory tract, lungs and throat, the stabilizing of the cells of the brain, the cure for insanities and obsessions, and an attainment of equilibrium and rhythm.”

The Late Swami Kriyananda (Donald Walters) who passed away in Assisi in 2013 and founded the Ananda Kriya Yoga and ‘New Age Order’ headquartered at the Expanding Light Retreat, Nevada, California, was the last living disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. The writer was initiated by Swami Kriyananda to the ‘New Age Order’. Swamiji would always state that “if one is keen to solve major challenges that one confronts in life, one has to elevate his level of consciousness, through practice of gratitude, service and meditation”.

Why and how this consciousness should be elevated was clearly advocated, a century ago, by Madam Helena Petrovna Blavatsky:

“In this age there are great triumphs of science, but they are nearly all directed to effects and do not take away the causes of the evils. Great strides have been made in the arts and in cure of diseases, but in the future, as the flower of our civilization unfolds, new diseases will arise and more strange disorders will be known, springing from causes that lie deep in the minds of men, and which can only be eradicated by SPIRITUAL LIVING.”

As Mankind, is reeling under a baptism by fire, COVID19 has thrown open its gauntlet to the human race to pause for a while and then proceed on ‘A New Path’ or is it ‘A New World Order’?  Inevitably it has to be a ‘Path’ which will recognize the Oneness of All beings – the flora, the fauna and the homosapiens, fully understanding the need to inclusively cultivate the planet and not destroy it.

To be convinced that healing cannot be on the physical plane alone, but also in the mental and spiritual realm. To be convinced that we cannot live by greed and appropriation, but with Gratitude, Love and Compassion.

Has the Initial Point in a New Yuga (Era) already arrived? Will the ‘Fire Dragon’ return to vanquish the Evil Forces that are plaguing the Planet?

If Winter cometh, Spring is not far behind.

  • I AM really very happy to read the insights and broad based information of effects of viruses at various times in the human society; and also the traditional local medical systems of treatment, largely having been successful.
The mention of spiritual practices adopted and potential thereof in improving body immunity which defends against the onslaught of virus amd keeps it bay.

I appreciate such an informative account of effects of local systems of medicine and preventive system to be appreciated and adopted; as well to cteate a connectivity to curative and preventive mechanism with soul driving the entire body/mind system. And ‘soul”, in turn is infinitesimal part of that Paramatman.
I appreciate writer’s suggestion of spiritual approach to increase body system’s immunity and resistance to defend against virus.

  • I really liked your article Bro Arni. The corona virus is mother nature’s disapproval of the way the humans are mindful of the destruction we are causing to environment, to forests, to ANIMALS BY SLAUGHTRING THEM. WE NEED TO ADOPT A LESS DESTRUCTIVE LIFE STYLE. WE SHOULD THINK LOCAL, TRAVEL LESS, KNOW OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD, GO VEGAN, AUSTERIY, AUSTERIY & AUSTERITY. Austeriy & compassion should be our guiding principles.
